Stars 98 Win 2010 Provincial Title
The 98 Stars are the 2010 BC Girls Squirt B Provincial Champions.
The North Shore Girls Fastpitch Squirt “B” Stars ’98 had an incredible year.
They recorded an undefeated regular season going 19-0 against all Squirt “B” teams throughout the Lower Mainland. They won the Lower Mainland Cup in early July and this past weekend, the team was 8-0 at the provincials winning the final championship game 4-3 over Surrey Storm. This game was described by a Softball BC representative in attendance as one of the most exciting championship games in years.
What makes the story so much more compelling is that the team did it with 9 healthy bodies. The team normally carries 13 players but one was off on a previously arranged vacation; one was lost 4 weeks ago to a broken collar bone; the starting catcher broke her foot in the second game at the provincials and another player received torn ligaments to her hand when hit by a pitch prior to the third game.
The team truly demonstrated the “team” aspect and each and every one of them came through big time throughout the tournament. Full credit to them and to our injured players as well as to all their families who supported the team the entire weekend.
