Stars 98 Win North Delta Tourney

The Stars 98 competed in the North Delta Squirt B tournament May 28-30 and came home with the gold medal as tournament champions. The tournament was modified due to Saturday games being rained out and the Stars started the day trouncing the host North Delta Sunfire 23-0 followed by an outstanding seven inning 0-0 draw against the Surrey Storm. As a result, the game was determined by bases touched and with the Stars recording 5 against the Storm's 1. The last game, the big finale, was against the only other undefeated team, Fleetwood Force, and the Stars pulled out a 2-0 victory on runs scored by Marla Curl and Claudia Hart. An outstanding effort all around by the entire team with special accolades to Megan Palmer who pitched an astonishing 16 inninings of shut-out ball.
