Opening Ceremonies
The 2010 softball season will officially kick off with the Opening Ceremonies on Saturday, April 17 at McCartney Park.
We will be hosting visiting dignitaries including the North Shore Mayors and a colour guard and piper for the parade of teams. There will be a banner competition for each division. There will also be softball skills stations set up for players to test themselves at, including timed base running and throwing or pitching speed using a radar gun.
Please arrive at McCartney with your team by 11:40 AM at the latest, the parade of athletes will start at 12:00 PM followed by the national anthem, the banner competition, and the official first pitch of the season.
NOTE: Managers must submit their team paperwork to their division Coordinator on this day, including Team Insurance (CASA) form, Softball BC Lifetime Membership forms (if applicable), Uniform form, and League Playdown Intent form (if applicable).
Ball Toss Fundraiser
All teams must participate in the Ball Toss Fundraiser at the Opening Ceremonies.
Registration fees only cover a part of our annual operating costs. A significant portion of our budget is brought in by players collecting pledges as part of the Ball Toss fundraiser.
Teams which participate in the Ball Toss at the Opening Ceremonies will receive goodie bags and shiny new "Grrrrls Softball" buttons for each player, as well as prizes for longest throw and mystery distance.
Team Photos
Team photos will be taken at McCartney Park on April 17.
Order envelopes were distributed through team managers, and there will be more available from the photographer. The basic photo package is not included in the registration fees. Contact your team manager to find out when your team is scheduled for photos.
